Our Story

THE DON

Don Alejo Jasso Garcia was born in 1925 in Zacatecas, Mexico. He fathered 8 children, 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. As the family patriarch, he led our big family resolved in integrity, grounded in character, and with an unmatched work ethic.

His career was balanced between the railroad and oil rigs in the Gulf  to support his ever growing family, and he finished his working years able to retire from both with a full pension. In his retirement years, he became “Grandpa”. However, this did not soften him. Don Alejo raised his grandchildren in the same way he raised his children: with the motto “If you are going to do something, do it well”, always with a stern undertone of “otherwise, you’ll regret it”.

His years as a grandfather were usually spent at the head of the dinner table with his many grandchildren trying to not misbehave, while his daughters were busy cooking together in the kitchen. He was always served first, not out of demand, but from generational respect and familial love. He was never without the doting care of his four daughters or the busy sounds of a full family.

In 2022, three of his grandsons ran with the crazy idea of bringing the same simple, nostalgic flavors of their childhood with Grandpa and presenting it in an atmosphere conducive to making memories. Their goal has been to carry Don Alejo’s legacy of integrity, work ethic, and personal character through the lens of serving the community at the dinner table.

Don Alejo made his entrance into Heaven on December 29, 2024 when he was 99 years old, having never seen the business that bears his namesake. As a family owned and operated business, we pray that we carry his legacy in a way that falls in step with how he lead our family and that we share the same feeling of family dinner with you.
